A couple quick changes
« on: June 02, 2017, 06:54:24 AM »
It occurs to me that we need to make a couple tweaks

for this season only the rookie league pro-service limit will be 3 years
for this upcoming draft only, the draft will be 20 rounds.

going forward

fictional player creation ages will be adjusted down to 17-20
regular draft will change ro 15 or 16 rounds, I have yet to decide

I'll put it in the constitution later today

comments, suggestions & complaints are always welcome

So many weird unemployed players already.   Thought the new R league would suck them up.  I find it strange that there are already hundreds of nobodies out there reducing the need for mundane minor leaguers.  I can almost always find some vet with better skills available to quit his Walmart job and sub in when needed

only 40 players 20 or under are in FA. and while you can find rookie league eligible players 21+ I have not found an easy way to sort them by pro service years.  since only 25%  (a sampling so it's not an exact estimate to be sure) or so of 21yo's seem to be eligible for the rookie league i upped the eligibility limits for this season so it's easier to manage filing up the extra roster slots hopefully making it easier to absorb the FA's.

and the increase draft rounds needed to be done with the extra layer of teams . 13 rounds theoretically gives us enough to keep a team full, but every player would have to spend all 2 years in rookie development, thats not even counting injuries or insanely crappy players. it barely works now, we really do skirt the edge, it's not a bad thing, we just have to be careful not to fall off. so i think the question is 15 or 16 rounds

i lean towards 15, but am open to a good argument for 16

I am good with 16 rounds. it will be autodraft for me after round 5. So the hopes for the Rookie league is to increase the development of some of the younger players right?

essentially. the theory is to allow us to develop more depth.  which even if the players don't make it to the majors it gives those that do better competition to play against which gives us better data to make decisions

in theory anyway  8)

set injuries to very low and you will still get plenty. I know, as I have played 2 seasons on ootp18.

It sounds like a good idea. Still say too many injuries.

Maybe we should add an all star game/break to recoup some of the minor injuries.  It may add an interesting element for rebuilding teams to have an all star as well...

I think an allstar game break  is an excellent idea... It will also help GMs to stay engaged as everyone gets to vote...

the all-star game doesn't work with single league, leagues

I am not opposed to adding in an off day every 5-6 weeks, but I need somebody to make the schedule

Well now that you mention it....it was a pretty dumb suggestion on my part.   :-[
I guess my mind jumped to 4 divisions and assumed two leagues....which clearly it's not.
